How does being a parent affect your teaching?

How the 10 Commandments and teaching of Jesus in the Sermon on Mount affect the behaviour of Catholics today?

  • Answer:

No different than any other Christian. I heard the stories that Catholics don't use the full Ten Commandments that certain parts were removed this is very untrue. The original Ten Commandments disappeared when the Babylonians taken Jerusalem, some claim they were destroyed, others claim that they are just missing. The most commonly used numbering for the Ten Commandments is the Philo & Josephus numbering which originated during the 1st century, this version is used by the Hellenistic Jews, Eastern Orthodox, and most Protestant denominations. Then there is the Talmudic numbering of the Ten Commandments used by the Jews which originated during the 3rd century. A little different from the Philo and Josephus numbering of the Ten Commandments. Then there is the Augustinian numbering of the Ten Commandments which is used by both the Catholics and Lutherans, the Lutherans use the Exodus terminology while the Catholics use both the Exodus and Deuteronomy terminology. And this numbering of the Ten Commandments is very different from the Philo & Jusephus. The Augustinian numbering of the Ten Commandments originated during the 5th century. http://www.vatican.va/archive/ccc_css/archive/catechism/command.htm You do realize that the Christian Bible came from the Catholic Church?

The Catechism of the catholic church is founded on the bible, the 10C of the OT + Love one another law by Jesus. How the catholics carry on the cardinal rules of Love one another in their lives possibly is another thing, just like any protestants. The catholics are instrumental and gave the bible to this world.

"What good deed must I do, to have eternal life?" - "If you would enter into life, keep the commandments" (Mt 19:16-17).
