Swelling during pregnancy?

Swelling in 6th month of pregnancy.. is it normal?

  • im now 24 weeks pregnant [ my 6th month is going on] from last 2-3days i started feeling like pain in my feet whenever i walk or stnad too long and from yesterday i noticed swelling in my both feets and bit in my hands specially fingers. i also have a problem of thyroid which was daignose in my early pregnancy stage so im taking thyroid medicines daily and now my thyroid is under control TSH level is 0.52. bt my in laws keep on saying this that swelling is not normal in starting of 6th and my mother in law got swelling at the end time of pregnancy although she is +60years[her age] now. i ask my doc she said just to avoid salt as much as i can. so im tensed cz of constant saying from my in laws that all this is cz of my thyroid. i want to know my baby is f9 and this swelling does not cause pblm to my baby.

I sure do hope it's normal because my feet have been swelling, as well as my calves and face (mainly my nose and lips).

It is normal, but if it begins to spread and your face begins to swell, it could be an indication of preeclampsia. I would get a second opinon if you are worried. In the mean time. Take it easy.

It is normal to get swelling in foot & hands. you should walk slowly daily for 5-10 minutes it will help you to reduce swelling. As you are complaining about thyroid also then take regularly check up for it.

seriously if you want people to read this grow up and dont text talk... swelling of the feet is common, it is because your weight is making it harder for the blood flow. You have to lay off the salt, because salt retains water. the more salt you eat the more water that stays inside your body. maybe you have thyroid problems but this water retention is not due to your thyroid is is due to basic science. extra salt= need for more water. extra water= extra bodily fluid. heavier weight+ walking around and standing for long time = build up of fluid in your feet. try putting your feet up and relaxing.
