It is free and among the best converters available on the net. But you will have to spend some time learning how to edit and play with the various filters. The only problem being you will have to install various filters in a separate directory.

Well Windows Movie Maker is free but it really doesn't offer a lot.. I think SONY VEGAS is free and hear that it is a great program, only thing is that I am not 100% sure it is free. It is a great editing program though.

For basic editing, AVS Video Editor is a great choice: It's also free trial, so that's always nice.

The only thing I know that is free is Windows Movie Maker. Comes standard on every Windows computer.
