Should I use Rosetta Stone to learn a new language?
-
I have been thinking about buying Rosetta Stone for Mandarin, the Level 1,2,3,4,5 for $399 for business purposes later in life. I am also thinking about Spanish. 1) Have you used Rosetta Stone's products, and will they help me speak the language fluently or at least efficiently? 2) What language would be the most practical to learn for business purposes? I think Mandarin and possibly Spanish.

Answer:
Being just back from a holiday in China I will take up learning Chinese myself. It is not only the most spoken language in the world but if the Chinese economics continues to grow like this the language will overtake English in being the "world language". I used Rosetta Stone previously to learn French and have to say I really liked the way to learn (something I can't say about the French language ;-) ). I will definitely use Rosetta Stone for Mandarin again. I can only recommend it.

I haven't used Rosetta Stone, but which language is the most practical depends on you. In my area, Spanish is the most practical. If I were to learn Mandarin it would be next to useless for me, at least in everyday life. But if you live in an area where there are many speakers of Mandarin, then go for it.
