What can I do with an International Relations bachelor's degree?
-
I'll be graduating soon from college with an International Relations degree with a concentration in science, technology and environment along with a minor in Asian Studies. My plan, initially, was to either join the peace corps or apply to graduate schools and pursue an MBA with a concentration in HR management. Lately, I've been feeling a bit worn out from school and decided to just take a break from school and get a job. The thing is, I'm not sure what kinds of jobs I can apply for with an International Relation's degree. Any suggestions? Am I screwed?

Answer:
You are not screwed and are on the right track, Get a job work 2-4 years then go for the MBA and make a future for yourself. MBA programs accept students in any undergraduate field. They prefer students who do not have a business major because they give you the business training but they cannot provide the broad background that managers should have. MBA programs prefer students with 2-3 years work experience after the first degree. A good source of information about MBA programs is the Official MBA Guide. It's a free public service with loads of information about the MBA and it has a good search engine for finding the program that fits you best.

Yea pretty screwed. I am not sure why so many people spend 4 years perusing a degree they don't know what they will do with. I mean plenty of my high school friends did it too. Many don't have a job while others are back in school for something else. I however have an engineering degree. Anyway why not take a break from school and spend a year teaching English in Asia? It is decent money and maybe when you are done you will be ready to hit the books again.
