Is MOSFET a good amp brand?

HDD repairs buying a MOSFET or brand new PCB?

  • I have a hard drive with important data on it I accidentally kicked the plug out doing upgrades and I really want to repair this hard drive which should be easy. I burnt out a Samsung HDD and the part that was burnt seems to only be a 8-pin P-channel Trench MOSFET the marking is a STJ009 from AUK. The HDD is a Samsung 2TB 5400RMP HDD the model number is HD204UI and the PCB number is PAN2F2AAB30036. I was should I buy a new PCB or new MOSFET, I have absolutely no problem with replacing the parts I just don't know where to buy the parts from in Australia. Are there other PCB's or MOSFET's that I could use and are compatible with this HDD and can be safely purchased in Australia. Thank you in advance.

  • Answer:

You'll probably find it's easier to buy a complete identical drive and swap the PCBs over. If the data is important the little bit extra cost shouldn't be an issue and complete drives are more likely to be readily available. Just changing the MOSFET is unlikely to fix the problem as you have no way of knowing what else it has taken with it.
