How to ask for a reference letter?
-
I need a reference letter from a professor so that I can go on a study abroad over the summer. I just found out yesterday that I will need it within a week or a week and a half. I know this is a short amount of time so I want to e-mail my prof so that he can have the most amount of time to write. I'm fairly sure he would be willing to do it but I am unsure of how to start composing the e-mail.

Answer:
Just be honest. What do you want his recommendation for and why you are excited about this opportunity. If you were a good student, I'm sure he'd be happy to help--profs are asked for letters all the time.
