@Jacob: Buddha was not a god, he was a real person, it's his philosophy that people follow.

Having strong faith in religion or nationalism is not good. Buddhism is more of a philosophy. National Socialism (Nazis) functioned sort of like a religion, and it didn't work too well @Jacob No, Buddha is not a god. More like a wise man who 'figured out' life and is an example to be followed

Yes! The fighting begins in earnest, when the argument is over, who is god.

Jacob, you are wrong. Buddha means enlightened one, not god. The Buddha is not considered a God in Buddhism. What makes the question even more ironic though, is that the Muslim god and the Christian god is the same entity. It is the god of Abraham and Moses. The only real difference is that Muslims do not believe that Jesus is the son of god. Most Muslims that I have met (I have met many) are extremely tolerant of Christianity but it seems the reverse is not the case

these situations are not comparable as you are only taking one part into account. buddhism is an atheistic religion (scuse my lack of language skills) meaning an atheist can be a buddhist however a christian can not be a muslim because while they believe in god, their other belifes differ a lot
