Is having a bad reaction to alcohol uncommon?

Odd reaction to alcohol?

  • For a few years now I've noticed I react very oddly to alcohol, whenever I drink any amount, one sip, any even light alcohol (beer, lemonade) I feel instant sway in the head, its instant, when I swallow, so the alcohol couldn't get in my bloodstream yet, so that's quite odd. Any stronger drink makes me feel sick by just smelling it, I can't drink it. Also very odd reaction is 1-2 hours after the drink I can sense very odd smell.. like id have very greasy skin, and it would smell of fat and sourness? Washing my face, brushing teeth, or nose inside doesn't fix it, I have no idea where is it coming from. Are those reaction may suggest I have some intolerance to alcohol or allergy?

  • Answer:

i don't know about the second reaction, but the first feeling of the sway in the head, everyone gets that. It's caused because a little bit of alcohol is absorbed through your esophagus (the tube that connects your mouth and your stomach) when you drink, and instantly goes into your blood.
