How do I become an actress?

How to become a great actress? Is it realistic or possible? Please help!?

  • I am 21 and an aspiring actress. I am currently taking acting classes at my college and am a theatre major. One day I wanna be a great actress like Viola Davis, Meryl Streep and a few other great actresses. I wanna be able to do acting roles like them. I wanna give my all to a role. How to become great actors like them? They are my role models and I admire their work. They are so talented. What would I have to do to get to their level? As I mentioned I am already taking acting classes. What else would I need to do to become just as good of an actress as them? I am looking into community theater's to audition for and join. I know that I have a long way to go and I don't care. I just wanna become just as good as them and bring the same experience to the audience. Should I eventually attend a professional acting school or conservatory like NYU or Stella Adler?

    I think anything in life is possible. If ur determination and ur drive is strong enough u can get there. However, it will be difficult to get there. Those actressess got there through pure luck, talent a strong drive and thensome. Ur road ahead of you will be long. It's good u have been studying acting for a year, but u will have even longer to go. I wee nothing wrong with ur goals.

I think anything in life is possible. If ur determination and ur drive is strong enough u can get there. However, it will be difficult to get there. Those actressess got there through pure luck, talent a strong drive and thensome. Ur road ahead of you will be long. It's good u have been studying acting for a year, but u will have even longer to go. I wee nothing wrong with ur goals.

It takes many years of top-level training and more years of experience to even get to the lowest levels of professional acting. One year is a good start, but the better the training you get, and the more good experience, the better your chances of getting more than a few one-line roles here and there. Statistically, I suppose the chances of you ever getting to be even close to as good, as well-known and as appreciated as the actors you mention are the same as winning the top prize in the lottery. It's better to aim to be the best you can be - and be content with that. If you'd end up disappointed in yourself, and unfulfilled if you never got a big role in anything, it's probably a good idea to forget the whole thing right now. Aiming a little higher than you can realistically achieve is great - but aiming for something you'll almost certainly never reach could leave you very bitter. Enjoy all your achievements - no matter how small they are. You'll be a happier person in the long run!
