Danger of removing fill nipple on an hpa tank for paintball?

I just bought a fill nipple cover with a chord so it wont get lost and it says that the fill nipple has to be removed off the hpa tank so the fill nipple cover can be completely installed. What im wondering is that since i have never ever tried to do this, I want to know how dangerous it would be to do it myself and also i want some pointers on how to do it properly, thanks.

Ive never EVER heard of having to take off the fill nipple to put a cover on. get one of these you just stretch it over the nipple onto the threads. and the cap pops right on. i love mine. http://www.ansgear.com/Rubber_Fill_Nipple_Cover_s/1496.htm
