Difference between football and soccer cleats?

  • Hi so my mom is planing on surprising my cousin with a pair of new soccer shoes however when we went to buy some we saw so many types of sport cleats that we didn't know which ones were for soccer we asked around but everyone gave us mixed answer. So are the soccer cleats suppose to have circle studs? Or are they suppose to be rectangular? Or both? Any detail will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help I know this question may be silly but I am honestly having trouble. I'm not into sports so I have no idea which are which.

There is a huge difference between soccer cleats and football cleats. The shape, size, and cleat placement are completely different. Soccerref
