Places where a 14 year old girl can get a job in Houston, Texas?

• I'm very determined to earn my own money to buy things like make-up, clothes, and other things. I always feel bad when I really want something and ask my mom for it because I know we struggle with money and I don't want to put her under any more stress than she already is. I live in the Houston, Texas area and I'm searching for somewhere I can work, preferably on the weekends but, of course, since that is impractical, after school on the weekdays will work fine as well. I'm aware that in our economy most adults- who have graduated from college and have more potential than a 14 year old girl does- can't even get a job, so it'll be very difficult for me to get one. I'm hoping for more of a sorting type job, like organizing books at a book store or something like that. I really don't want to work at somewhere like McDonalds because well... I find that place disgusting as it is and I don't care to learn how they make there "food". Also, people I have talked to before have said that it’ll be easier to find a job once I’m 15, since that is the actually age I can really get paid for working, though I’m not sure if that true or not, for I haven’t looked it up to make sure.   only babysitting. Otherwise It is illegal to work in the state of texas under 15 1/2 and thats with a hardship.
