What would prevent a DoS attack?

DoS attack attempts originating from Yahoo?

  • Hey Yahoo, wtf? Just installed a new router, and within hours it picked up multiple DoS attack attempts by different IP addresses. I traced the IP addresses, and all of them originated from... Yahoo. Hey Yahoo, why are you trying to hack me? This sounds like grounds for a lawsuit to me. I already know about the adware/spyware/malware you sneak onto peoples' computers without their knowledge or consent, but attempting a DoS attack on a private user seems like a particularly low blow, especially for a company that has been the target of hackers before. Perhaps I should save these logs and contact the authorities...?

  • Answer:

The newspaper said that a large hacker group was doing to do DoS attacks today. They know how to spoof IP addresses so that they are not found (by most computer users). Yahoo is not hacking you.
