Have bulimic tendencies....(trying to stop but its hard). going on vacation with my family tomorrow..nervous..?

and i'm nervous because i'm going to be spending 24/7 with them and going to have to eat proper meals and keep it down. i hate how i'm more hooked on this then i thought...i live in europe btw...and i like my sleep, but this anxiousness thinking about this and worrying about it has me up till 5am....and i have to get up in 2 hours. anyone have any advice on how to handle this better and be calmer? in-case you want background info...i'm a 22 year old girl, felt depressed since 14, suicidal since 18..just got help last June. I was in out-patient treatment for two months then ever since been in regular one-on-one therapy. its all linked in with eachother - the out-patient, and the therapy place...so my therapist is aware of everything. I only started the bulimic tendencies in july, i think it was when i got scared of having to face my deep seeded issues....anyway, i didn't think i'd still be doing this by now, and here i am. but anytime since then when my therapist has asked how i am, i having admitted to still doing this...i won't be seeing her for two weeks and i'll tell her then, i need to because i'm getting sore throats now from purging. but does anyone have any advice for the mean time, especially for dealing with this while being on vacation with my family? they know about my depression, but i've managed to keep my bulimic tendencies hidden,and want to keep it that way.

All I can say is that DBT is absolutely the best treatment for borderline personality disorder, a serious mental illness. It's also used for bulimia. You can find out with the Marsha Linehan/DBT You Tube videos. Although the Linehan book Skills Training Manual for Treating Borderline Personality Disorder is for professionals, it's very popular. Handbook of Self Help Therapies reviews clinical studies of books for mood disorders and behavioral problems, including eating disorders. You can use a library copy (interlibrary loan would help) or buy a used copy at Amazon for a reasonable price.

Oh but why are you bulimic to begin with? You shouldn't try to starve yourself to change your image. Your are unique in your own way; there's no need to compare yourself to anyone. Be happy with who YOU are. It's good your getting therapy and help, because that could make a difference, but using any methods of starvation is horrible. You need nutrition, and that comes from food. Have fun on your vacation and enjoy spending time with your family.
