My axolotl is refusing food?
-
In the beginning of January (2012) I got my axolotl (Lancelot) a friend (Camelot). When I got Camelot they told me in the store that he probably won't want to eat for like 2 days after I got him, but it took me as long as 2 weeks to get him to eat something at all. After that I've only managed to get him to eat twice, which means I successfully fed him 3 times in 2½ months. Since I know an axolotl is supposed to eat around every 2nd/3rd day, I find this weird and worrying. ): My other axolotl eats everything he sees and well, he is rather fat to be honest and has never refused food as long as I've had him. I've tried feeding Camelot small pieces of raw fish, axolotl pellets and bloodworms. He doesn't want anything. In the beginning he would look at it but not snap, now he just turns away like food was the most disgusting thing he's ever seen. Just some notes that might help; *The water temp in the aquarium has been around 15°-20° celsius. *They have rather big pebbles that are bigger than their heads, and wouldn't fit in their mouths, so I don't think he swallowed one. *They have a lamp, but with a sort of "cover" so it won't get too light for them. *They have an aquarium pump that helps cleaning the water and stuff. * ^ I do still change the water every now and then. Also, here's a picture of them both; http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/425936_3251981451097_1013842448_3118950_84953490_n.jpg Camelot is the one to the right. So yeah. I would really appreciate any suggestions you may have. ): It would mean a lot to me, and to Camelot. Thanks!

Answer:
www.Buy-Axolotls.com My Water Dragon sick and won’t eat what should I do? First, put your Water Dragon in a 2 1/2 Gallon tank and do water changes every day, because your tank may have high levels of Ammonia and Nitrite. By doing a 100% water change you will be removing 100% of the Ammonia and Nitrite in the tank. If they still will not eat, try feeding LIVE food like; Rosy Minnows or Californian Black Worms or Red Wiggler Worms. You can buy them at Petsmart and Petco or your local tropical fish store. If your Water Dragon is big enough you can feed them Rosy Minnows. Use a net and catch a Rosy Minnow then grab the Rosy Minnows by the tail fin. Then present it to your Water Dragon's mouth. He should eat it. Depending on the size Water Dragons they will eat 2-3 to Rosy Minnows per week. It is important that you buy Rosy Minnows that are smaller than your Water Dragon’s mouth. Also make sure that you buy healthy Rosy Minnows that are not sick. If a minnow is sick you will see a sunken belly do buy them or feed them. Rosy Minnows are a great food source for an Adult Water Dragon (Axolotl) Only feed one Rosy Minnow per day and up to three times per week. Remove any uneaten food and waste after 24 hours so that your axolotl will not eat food that is contaminated with bacteria. You can remove the uneaten food with a net or you can use a siphon. A siphon is a 1/4 inch tubing about 4 ft long that you can buy at Homedepot or any other home centers. It is a Water Dragon natural instinct to grab and eat live food. If he does not eat the live food the first time then try again in 2-3 hours. You can download, post on the Internet (Facebook), and Publish any of Buy-Axolotls.com content and images. Axolotl
Start changing your water more often for a while, do a few 10% changes a 4 days in a row then every 3 days then back to normal. Don't feed him for 4-6 days either, give the water chemistry time to change if it needs to and hunger to build. Amphibians, especially fully aquatic ones are very sensitive to water conditions.

It could always be the food.. But I though my guppies had stopped eating and it turns out they were eating food that went to the bottom.. And they were full so they had no reason to eat from the food at the top
