How can I poop more easily?

How many times a day do Blue and Gold Macaws usually poop? Also can they become easily stressed?

  • I was just wondering how often Bue and Gold macaws each day. Also i am about to purchase my own Blue and Gold and was wondering how easily they get stressed? For example, I am planning to have multiple friends over to see the bird. Of course this would be after a week or two of us just bonding. Would he get stressed with 4 or 5 people wanting to pet him? I would only let them touch him one at a time of course, until he gets used to all of them. But would all of them be too much? I want to make sure my bird is as comfortable as possible.

  • Answer:

Every bird is different. The average is every 15 minutes. More if they're stressed or bored. It is possible to "site train" some birds. My grey is trained to "poop" on his perch and in his cage and will also "poop" on command. If my grey can do it, I'd imagine your macaw could learn too (don't do this anytime soon- let him get as comfortable with you as possible. Some birds stress easily and some are very go-with-the-flow. Having friends over as long as the macaw is caged and after a week or so should be okay. Ideally, he or she will be in a central location in the home so he gets used to seeing people even when he's not out. I would advise against letting them touch him. He's still adjusting-even after a week. Invest in a wheeled playstand if you're able-they're wonderful for when you're busy but you want your bird out of the cage. Good luck to you.
