Should I choose a macbook air 11 inch 128gb or a macbook pro 13 inch 500 gb?
-
I went to the Apple store and literally fell in love with the macbook air 11 inch. I thought 64gb and two gigs of RAM was to little, so i decided on the 128gb 4 gigs of RAM macbook air at 1199$. However, I then saw the macbook pro 13 inch 500gb was also 1199$. It was obviously more powerful than the air. My usage would be something like a lot of web browsing, about 40gb of media, an extra 40gb for documents (i'm a student) and the occasionnal apps and movie making. I love the air because it is amazingly portable. However, the pro is at the same price and is more powerful. I also currently own a pavilion dv7 (that is dying, that's why i'm looking for a new computer) that has 565gb of memory and i've used up 165. Let's say it's nice not to worry about space, and with the air, unlike the pro, i would have to tighten my memory usage up a little. So, what should I choose?

Answer:
Macbook Pro! The Macbook Air's are great if you only want to use it for surfing the web. If you are a student, you might get into using the easy web design program (iWeb), or video editing program (iMovie). I'm a student too, and I use these programs for fun to make slideshows/videos of road trips with friends, etc. And iWeb is great for throwing up your own personal blog. The air will run these programs, but the video rendering is SO slow. The Macbook Pro is still small and portable --- and you won't mind the extra couple of pounds when you don't have to wait 3 hours for a video to publish to your Facebook page...

I have both an air and MBP. I use my pro a lot more as its, faster and by air keeps running low on storage. Work bought my pro, and i bought the air for home use, and out of office portability. Its amazing how much space gets used when you don't intend it. (I also have a 10GB drop box that's full in an attempt to keep my air free of space) My recommendation: macbook pro

i would get the Macbook pro. Why? its more powerful. the Air is nice but it lacks the features the Macbook pro has. and its one of those things where you would rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it. i would go with the Pro. but both are good.
