How to play a sound after a command has finished its execution?

Speakers do not play sound but test tone works fine?

• I was webcamming with a friend and attempting to watch a movie on the laptop at the same time. Both sound channels would not play through head phones, so I attempted to adjust My sound settings, and now, the laptop speakers do not work. HOWEVER the test tone is just fine. I have no idea what's going on.
