What is the best college/university for video game programming?

Can video game/simulation programming help you to become a better developer?

  • I have taken my associate's in computer science with a concentration in web development, but I'm always looking for new challenges. After looking at the classes involved in a video game/simulation major, it's clearly challenging. However, I don't spend my days playing video games, but I always dreamed in creating simulations implementing AI. I guess my question is, would a video game/simulation degree help me to become a better developer in general?

    Well, I guess any sort of practice would be good, don't you think? You may not use AI or simulation-related algorithms in most typical software development. But at the most basic level it's still a matter of bringing together the 'big picture' with the details, conceiving of things in terms of their effects throughout the system...in other words, very general concepts that any software developer needs.
