Trouble making css apply to html code made in Javascript?

I wrote a Javascript code that creates a calendar and I use CSS to modify it. When I have the CSS and JS code in one html file then everything works perfectly. When I create a seperate document for each language and link them into the html file, the entire CSS code stops working. I was wondering if someone could write a simple html code that links a CSS file and a Javascript file into a HTML document and executes the JS code when the page is loaded. (This is what I really need) It would also be nice if you could explain to me what is happening in the html code.
