What are some good earphones that are durable and have good bass?

What other types of earphones/headphones are there besides bass/acoustic/vocal?

  • i know what you mean, usually most of the headphones are all rounders and all.. but there are headphones that have the bass boosted up a bit. thats why in the description they will state extra bass or smth. thats what i mean. so i was wondering what other kinds of these headphones are there that have like a small element that is enhanced

  • Answer:

Most headphones (unless they're noise cancelling) are passive devices. They have no electronics in them. So, when headphones advertise that they are "bass enhanced", it's really like saying "treble challenged". There are some tricks that can be done with speakers and the enclosures around them to increase the apparent amount of bass, but that's it. Headphones that say they "enhance the vocals" are made with the bass and treble reduced...so the midrange becomes more prominant. (With a passive system, you can always take away frequencies). This is why most audio professionals prefer headphones with a flat or balanced responce across the audio spectrum. That way, if there's a certain part of the audio spectrum you want to zoom in on, you can us an equalizer (either hardware or a software plugin) to do it. So much of what you read about headphones is just a bunch of marketing hype. Unfortunately, most people who don't have a technical background will happily buy into it. Good luck. I don't understand the question. Nobody makes headphones that are only good for bass, or only good for vocals, or only good for acoustics. Any good headphone will be good at everything. Otherwise it wouldn't be good... Any headphone that's only good for bassy music should be avoided. Get a quality headphone from Grado, Sennheiser, Audio Technica, AKG, Shure or Bowers and Wilkins, and it'll sound good no matter what kind of music you throw at it.
