How do you make a move on a girl you have known for a long time?

• Known a girl for a long time (lived in same house for over a year) she is planning to move out into a flat. I wanted to try and make a move when she moved out, how do you do it? (lol I am 38). I lived in Japan for years and over there I just out my arm around them or massaged them and tried to kiss them or something, but with Brit girls I don't know if this would work. Or do you just ask them? Do you want to go out with me? Other things, got to know her for a while and I have noticed Brit girls tell you about the their previous boyfriends and even guys who they have slept with- this never happened in Japan- girls would consider it insensitive. They also say I am going for a wee! Why would I want to know that! Why tell me such a thing(too much information) Anyway, apart from the reverse culture shock I feel I have way more in common with Brit girls and a better connection. She also told me she had an abortion when she was 19, so have wondered what she was really like before. She says she is common, but I (and others) think she is a lovely person (as a girlfriend I don't know) As long as I have know her (she is now 41) she hasn't slept with anyone, so isn't easy now, maybe I should forget her abortion at 19 and her sleeping with her brother's thief friend when she was a teenager! It is just that when she was doing this I was still a shy virgin lol ( I am 3 years younger than her).
