Which bicycle would you recommend?

Could anyone recommend a good cheap bicycle?

  • Answer:

    1) Good & cheap while at the same time referring to a bicycle is an oxymoron. #2) "I don't want to spend a ton of money." Sorry...I'm not privy to your bank account or credit card info. Please define "ton of money". #3) "Are Walmart bicycle's decent?" Emphatically NO! Less than decent...to the point we (those who answer questions) refer to them as BSO - Bicycle Shaped Objects. #4) If you need a good commuter bicycle, then buy a bicycle designed for commuting. R.E.I. is currently selling one on their outlet website. A Diamondback Insight RS Commuter Bike, normally $500 for $389.93. This would be the lowest priced bicycle I can honestly recommend. Links below to both the men's & women's version.

Walmart doesn't sell bikes, they sell bicycle shaped objects. Get a touring, hybrid, or cyclocross bike, from a bike shop. Talk to the guys working there and they'll help you find the right bike.

Hey Taylor, "Good" and "Cheap" are two mutually exclusive terms when it comes to bicycles. Meaning? With bicycles you definitely get what you pay for. A WallyWhirlled bicycle *can* work for you. But if that's the way you decide to go than keep it simple. DO NOT be tempted and go with a multi-speed full-suspension imitation bike-shaped-object. A single speed cruiser might be all the bike you need. If you know someone that's WAY into bikes and knows what they're doing, you can have them check out the assembly and make sure the thing won't fly apart on you. But... The very best bet is to bite the big one, spend the bucks and go to your friendly local bike shop. Expect the prices to start at around $300 and go up from there.

I would stay far away from Walmart bikes. Check the local ebay and Craigs list for something that came from a bike shop. Bikes come in different frame sizes so they are comfortable to ride. It can make all the difference in the world. For the price a hybrid bike will be the best choice. If you are mechanically inclined Bikes Direct has bikes for cheap. You just need to know how to assemble and tune a bike and get the correct size. http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/hybrid_bikes.htm
