Why does having health insurance before being diagnosed with a serious condition make a difference?

What if you don't pay enough taxes to make up the difference in health care insurance premiums?

  • According to the Health care bill, those people who buy health insurance are supposed to get "tax breaks" for costs above their guidelines. But what if you never paid enough in taxes to get that tax break? For instance, lets say after deductions, you only paid 0 in taxes, but yet paid 4000 in health care costs. Then you wouldn't see any of that money right, but yet because of the law, you HAVE to pay the 4000 dollars a year or suffer increased fines per year. How is that reducing your costs?

Here is a health care subsidy calculator. As long as you earn under $88K you are entitled to a tax credit when you file your tax return. It is an IRS credit. What you are paying for your current health insurance has nothing to do with the ACA. You will purchase insurance according to your budget and needs and get the tax credit.
