Online programs that help with the resume?

I am considering joining the National Guard to help fund a doctoral program. Is it worth the effort?

• Hi everyone, I am 29 years old, male, good shape, and possibly ready to join the military. Not only am I ready to build this side of my resume I am actually looking forward to it. I have a bachelors and a masters and now I am in matriculation for a few different doctoral programs. Question, will joining the National Guard help me pay for a doctoral program (outside or medicine) or does it just focus on undergraduate and graduate funding? I have interviewed with a recruiter about this but he hasn't gotten back to me and I am not sure if its a good or bad sign? Its not really the money I am looking for. I just want to know if I dedicate 5-6 years to the guard will it be worth the time and energy? The doctoral programs I am looking at fit a 4-6 year time frame; the two commitments could fall in line with each other pretty well. Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated!

  If you plan to complete a phd in the sciences, then don't do it. You can easily find a school that will give you a full tuition waiver plus a stipend via an assistantship or a fellowship. I don't know what the national guard offers, but please make sure you don't just trust a recruiter and actually read all the paperwork yourself and do research to confirm what you're hearing is accurate.
