Sims 2 problems..please help?
-
I still am playing Sims 2 because for one, I love it and two,bc I invested so much money in games I didn't want to spend more on Sims 3. Anyway, I originally played all my games on Windows XP and never had one bit of trouble. Two years ago I purchased a much faster computer that has Windows Vista 64 bit running on it and I have had almost constant trouble with my Sims 2 games. I have just about every game, but 1 or 2 but only half will install on my new computer. Most have issues transferring files...don't know if it is just scratched or what the problem is. Currently, I am using Sims 2 holiday edition, NightLife, University,Pets,Seasons,(Apt. Life will work but I have it uninstalled right now) and Mansion & Garden stuff. My computer has 4 GB and I have only used half of it. I do have tons of custom content in my game (over 10,000 things) but the game loading time is not really bad...maybe 10 minutes or so. My problem is when I get into the game after adding a lot of custom content I cannot get into any lots. They will load and load and load and never finish.Or sometimes they will let me into a lot but if I return to the neighborhood and try to get into another lot, it will do the forever loading thing. And sometimes I won't have a problem at all. There is no rhyme or reason to this problem because I tried 2 times and did nothing different and one time it worked and another it didn't. I do have issues with corrupted cache but if I remove the 2 cache files, I have no problems. I have heard that a lot of custom content will add to your loading time but not affect game play but for me that is not the case. It will play fine for weeks and then boom...lots never finished loading or a second lot will not load. I don't know what to do. I dont have any internet access at my home so I can't update anything. I would like to know why I am having this problem and what to do about it. I run my content files thru clean installer so I always delete troubled files. Can someone please help? Thanks Yes, 4GB RAM and it is not 10,000 GB of content...it is the number of items...meaning the homes,sims,walls/floors,objects etc. I am not sure how many GB it actually is and I do have Delphy's organizer and have used it to get rid of extras and to recycle some of my content. As for my discs not installing, I have cleaned them and they install farther but not fully. Is there something I can use to clean them or resurface them etc? But my question is why does the custom content affect the game?? I always have read it affects loading time not how you play, other than lagging but when my game does work it works fine and is not slow at all. And with all that custom content it has worked perfectly fine, just every once in a while it will act up. I am having a bad feeling I won't be able to use any cc.And I really love my cc!!

Answer:
i assume with 4 gig you mean ram and not your hard drive ( or otherwise your looking at your sims 2 dvd ) just to install the sims 2 you need 4 gig let alone the rest and 10 k in custom content ? no wonder you are having problems down size do you really need all that stuff ? download delphy's custom content organizer and remove what you dont want to rneed there is no reason you should have 10 k in cc files and if a cd or dvd has issues transferring files the opticla drive usually cant read the cd \dvd because its either dirty of damaged

You are kidding me 4 gigs you meant ram is it. Because if you want to play games with lots of content you need at least 30 - 1000 gig hdd
Just to let you know, CC can mess up your gameplay, trust me. I used to play the Sims 2 with thousand of CC, but then it started crashing my game, my sims starting acting weird, and the loading was horrible. I would suggest taking your Downloads folder out of your Sims 3 Folder (don't delete, just place it on the desktop). Then, load your game up and see if that makes a different. If it doesn't, then I have no idea what the problem is.
