What is the name of this book/movie?
-
I used to have a book (which I had never read), and then there was a movie on TV, and my mum said that it was based on the book, but anyway I'm trying to find the name of them/it (or at least the movie). I watched a bit of the movie, but that was years ago so I'm not sure if I remembered it right. It's a live action movie, not animation, and in the movie there was an American (i think) soldier (maybe) in some snowy place - i think Alaska, or maybe Canada - who had become friends with a wolf. I'm not sure if one of them had saved the others life, or if it had happened over a long period of time, but either way a bond had definitely formed. At some point in the movie the soldier had lived in some sort of wooden cabin. He left the cabin and the wolf, then later on in the movie he went back up to the cabin, and then he met the wolf. I think either the wolf remembered him or something, or the relationship was kind of icy and they had to pretty much start again, but I'm pretty sure they were friends again by the end of a movie. I'm pretty sure the wolf was a grey wolf, or maybe a red wolf, and I'm think the book is old ( I don't know how old, maybe late 1800's at the very earliest, or early 1900's??? I'm not really sure). The book cover had an oval near the top with the name of the book and who it was by, and probably an image of a snowy place with the soldier and the wolf or the wolf standing on a rock infront of a big full moon or something like that, but I'm pretty sure the book was part of some sort of collection - stories for children or something - because I had some others book with like front covers, but they were by different authors. I know it isn't much to go by, since I'm not that sure about most of what I remember, but any help would by much appreciated.

The author, Jack London, wrote many stories in this genre, and I have been trying to recall some of them: White Fang, Call Of The Wild, The Son Of The Wolf.... There could be more. I am sorry I have not been specific, but it might be of help. I know movies were made of the first two books mentioned.
Kind of sounds like "Dances with Wolves"
No idea but could it be White Fang?
