Which job should I take?

  • So just a week ago, I got hired on with Old Navy as a sales associate. I'm going to school full-time year round so it seemed to be a good fit. Also I had 3 years previous experience at Old Navy, so I know exactly what my job entails. Just today though, another company, Swimco, has offered me a key holder position at their store and I'm confused if I should take the job. Yes there is more money from Swimco, but there is also more stress associated with it being a key holder and I don't need additional stress on top of my schooling. I have been a key holder before as well, and I do enjoy it, but sometimes it gets too stressful for a full-time student. So to summarize, at Old Navy, I know what I'm doing, getting a decent wage, don't know how many hours I will be getting, there are more people to meet, sales associate (less stress) and I know how to do my job. At Swimco, I get a key holder position, more money, too much focus on sales (I don't like that), I know I will get enough hours to support myself. What do you think? I'm so confused right now. And I have already made a pro/con list, but I'm even more flustered. Thanks

  • Answer:

You are a full-time student. That is your main focus. If you flunk out, that is your future, not a mini lesson in life at Swimco. Your situation does not let you be available for the responsibilities Swimco demands. Be fair to them and to yourself, stay with Old Navy.

Better go with Swimco. You need to learn to deal with high stress situations . You can not be safe and comfortable and expect to get ahead in today's world.
