Chemical engineer or biomedical engineer as career choice?

Is a locomotive engineer a good career choice?

  • Answer:

It is an excellent career. My daughter considered it but she decided instead she wanted to run the railroad and stayed in college. But really, there are few women in railroad work and the railroads are desperate to show some gender equity and they would love to have you. They have a retirement plan to die for. My ex roommate's father was an engineer and got a pension of around $90,000 a year when he retired, Just be aware that for your first 5 years you will get every crappy shift out there. If a railroad accepts you, they will train you and you get paid while training. Go look at the web site of the Union Pacific and the BNSF and find the career page. Amtrak also hire a lot of women as train conductors.

First off nursing administration would be a far better option then becoming a nurse. Here is why... Your not on your feet a whole lot, just about the same pay when you really think about it. Nurses work long hours, undergo a lot of stress, and the lose of patients who they get close to from time to time. The health care industry in American is on a 24% rise from the years 2012-2020. Not bad, but consider how much you would make salary rise, add up the schooling cost, plus living expenses. Its not that much. Plus Nurses usually get b**chy from what I see. And the risk of being laid off work exist, due to budget cuts in hospitals either now or in the future. A Locomotive engineer is a really good job with few lay-offs, however...you are like truck driver. Always away from home. Pay is pretty good too, along with a ton of benefits, plus a fat petition, plus benefits also for your spouse if you are married.
