Is the job posted on Craigslist from this website a scam?

This is a scam..please avoid any job offer on craigslist if you get an email back saying:?

  • Hello Job Seeker, VIRTUAL TRUTH is a well established Private Evaluating Firm which is looking for employees in all fields for Full time or Part time Positions especially office/ Billing assistants. So kindly send us the following details so that we can tell you more about the Job. First name. Last name. Age: Address ....(No P.O Box) City, State, Zip Code Cell phone Only. Email: A swift acknowledgment of this email will be appreciated. Warm Regards, Jason Buehner Hiring Manager Thanks [email protected] I researched this and all I came up with was scams and stuff that didn't exist. They tried to make a fake website: http://www.virtualtruth.org/default.html but I took a research class in college and it lacks all the real stuff. No real contact information except an email. No real titles of CEO's or high employees. Two pictures of some guy that seems to have been stolen. No serious explanation as to what their company is about. Each of their pages on the site is just a small paragraph that really doesn't say anything. And the first page talks to job seekers not it's clients...What ever they supposedly do. I found this listing on Craigslist and it was titled: Receptionist-New (Sacramento). The only requirements were -Proficiency in Microsoft Office -Good communication skills -Spanish proficiency They took their listing off craigslist now but be on the look out. The good thing is I didn't get them my information when they asked for it. Many girls will not be as smart to catch this though. I hope this will help people if they ever google this "company". @ sunset... It was never listed as an online job. I never said that. I was merely applying for a job in Sacramento, CA on craigslist. This is a response I received back from that job application. Right away any girl would have responded with their information not knowing what was going on. Craigslist was thought to be a little bit safer than other job sites like yahoo jobs that list scams about going to a college. I don't think you and Go With The Flow see what I'm trying to say. I'm merely concerned and want to spread the word that Craigslist isn't so safe.

Thanks for posting up the information on that scammer. Making a scammer's scam googlable on every scam-warner-anti-fraud-busting site you can find is a great way to slow that scammer down when a suspicious potential victim goes looking for information, finds your post containing the name the scammer is using, his email address, phone number and the emails themselves and then that potential victim does not become a scam victim because you took the time "get the word out". Thanks!! Wasting a scammer's time legally and safely is called "scambaiting". If you google that word, you will find sites where you can read scambaits, post up the emails and email addresses of scammers, post up a fake website, read up on how to alert a hosting company that they are hosting a fake website, ask questions and learn all about the hobby of scambaiting.

I just received this email as well!!! I applied from craigslist in Sacramento also. It just seems a bit weird that they ask for all this information without trying to schedule an interview. That is why it is important to do research before you send your info. to just anyone out there. There is really no reason why they need to know where you live and your age before they hire you. Be careful people!

It's always best to check first the credibility of the company before filling up any personal details. Not all work from home jobs are scams. You just have to apply on some great job sites like staff.com, odesk.com, elance.com.

I see. Do you know of any online jobs that are not scams for ages 16-18?

In most situations is very easy to track scammer back. If you doubt then you can follow next steps: - Go to your mail box and open email - find out email header from email that you would like to trace back - Copy/paste full email header to any of free email tracers below: http://www.ip-address.org/tracker/trace-email.php http://www.ipaddresslocation.org/email-tracking/email-header.php http://www.find-ip-address.org/email-search/find-email.php And you will in most situations know directly of it is scam or not. Very often scammers have IP addresses from Nigeria or similar... Hope this helps!
