Does 'in and out' hire people with tattoos?

Does anyone hire people with tattoos?

  • My 22 yr old son is an amazing individual but poeple judge him because he has many vivible tattoos. (neck and hands included). He studied to be a barber and no one will hire him. Now he's looking for a job anywhere else doing what ever he can but no luck. He can't work at a warehouse becasue he has a bad back. Any suggestions? Someone suggested a call center but even there he is having difficulty.

  • Answer:

It is sad that we are a nation that judges people... but we do I worked in a call center.... that call center had rules..... no visible tattoos & no visible piercings (other than standard ear piercings... but no more than 2 per ear) Someone would have had to use a whole lot of dermablend or something to cover tattoos to work there. People covered tattoos on their wrists, arms, hands, & feet all the time because it was a requirement There were many reps who had to remove eyebrow piercings, tongue piercings, etc.... Even though those reps were the same people with or without covering tattoos & removing piercings... and, even though customers on the phone (Verizon Wireless customer service) would never have known if someone was pierced or tattoo'd Thus far, I have managed to convince my 24 year old son to keep his tats to only places he can cover with normal shorts & normal short-sleeved shirt...... he has a huge phoenix on his back & shoulders..... I wonder when he will decide to get something visible (he wants a snake that comes up onto his neck)... and I worry what that will mean for his job prospects if he ever decides to get that visible tat around here, the folks with tats work in construction.... I know a guy who used to be a tat artist, covered in ink who is now a roofer

Sounds like something he should've considered before getting them. You know, personal responsibility and all.

Their are still a lot of stereotypes and misconceptions of people with tattoos that are totally false. May he could train to be a tattoo artist? Or he might be able to work as a telemarketer, or a job in sales that is done over the phone. Even with his tattoos he should be able to get a job doing something, so many people have tattoos these days is not as big of a deal anymore but in some professions it will be cover them up or not be hired. Maybe a janitor , he could clean office buildings I've heard you can make decent money doing that. How about a construction crew ? Or truck driver? A repo man? He will be able to find a job that is good, it will just take time . I have a lot of tattoos myself, and most people are curious about them, it has not stopped me , But I am on SSDI and disabled.
