Okay, I have the new Xbox 360 (slim) it has the open tray error.?

Since the shop I was going to send it to doesn't have the new laser for my Xbox 360 (which they was suppose to receive 3 weeks ago so they can fix my Xbox) i'm getting a new Xbox 360 Slim next week so can i just send my Old Xbox 360 to a Shop then they can pay me for it then they can fix it and keep it or will I be stuck with my old Xbox 360. Oh what causes the laser to be messed up (open tray error) do you have to move you Xbox around alot for it to have the open tray error or what?
