How can I compose a mail with an image in it?

When I copy an image from Firefox, why do I get different results when trying to send in an email.?

  • I have experimented with different ways of getting an image from Firefox to Yahoo Mail to send an image. One way works, the other doesn't... makes me curious as to what is going on here: If I prepare the image in Mozilla Firefox as follows: 1) Right click on image 2) Select "View Image" I have just the picture I want to include in my email. Now, there are two ways to copy the image to the clipboard: - Right-click image, and select "Copy Image" - Use CTRL-A to select, and CTRL-C to copy. When I use either of these approaches, the image will paste into Yahoo Mail, but, only the latter (CTRL-C) approach will actually send the image! The "Copy Image" does not get sent, even though it's clearly in the clipboard because it does paste into my Yahoo compose window. 8-o I did an experiment where I copied and pasted the same exact image twice using each of the methods above, and while both images were in the composition window, when I received the email (to a non-Yahoo account), only the CTRL-C image appeared. This is so weird, that I have to wonder... how does Firefox interact with the clipboard? Why does one way of copying to the clipboard fully work, but not the other (even though the clipboard DOES have the image)? BTW, this is a Firefox issue (I'm using v11.0), because IE gives me consistent results with both techniques above.

  • Answer:

I think you need to save the image first then send it. When you paste from the clip board, the image does not have a file type assigned to it and will be processed differently depending on the server you send it to. BTW whats wrong with just sending the link. This lowers the load on both mail servers.
