Why does my belly button piercing hurt?

Belly Button Piercing! will it hurt? :/?

  • ok so me and my friend really want to get our belly button pierced sometime next week and we have been talking about it and googling images of belly bars and even of how to look after it. BUT the closer the time gets to having it done the ore i freaking out. Now i have had the HPV needle at school for cervix cancer and what not and that did hurt but i didnt cry and it only hurt for literally 3 seconds, so will i be alright with getting my navel pierced or will it hurt even more then the needle? Also when i was younger my mum got my ears pierced that was when i was about 4 years. one ear really hurt and when the lady got to piercing my other ear a moved and she got it in the wrong spot so i had to go back about a week later to get it redone cuse i couldnt bare the pain that day :) haha yes i walked around with one ear pierced all week :). anyway when my mum took me back she held an ice pack on my eay for 30 mins before hand and apparently i asked the lady who was piercing my ear if i could not get it done and she said that she already did it. I did not fell a thing it was a miracle :D if i do this with my belly button like put an ice pack on 30 mins before hand will it be the same? will i not feel a thing? also if you know of any good products to use after i get it pierced that would be awesome :) thanks and i hope you can help me get over my fear hehe :) THANKYOU!

I doubt the piercer is going to let you put ice on it. But, do what you can. About the pain, it all depends on pain tolerance. People with pain tolerances of 1-5 can withstand little to no pain w/o either saying "Ow" or freaking out. People with 5-10 pain tolerances can withstand a substantial amount of pain without freaking out. I'm a 7 when it comes to pain. I have 14 piercings, and only one caused me to say "Ow". Which was my bridge piercing. It hurts, terribly! But, I overcame that quickly. Anyways, I think you should be fine. When he/she is piercing your navel, listen to his instructions and think about how gorgeous it will look afterward. Now, there are no specific products that help it heal; Using peroxide helps clean the surface of the piercing and remove any bacteria. (Don't use Peroxide every day, only 2x a week) Also, when cleaning your piercing; Use mild soap like Ivory, or any soap that has little or no heavy perfumes and deodorants. Stay away from wearing any belly tops until it's completely healed. (You don't want it catching on anything if you use bar's with long chains) Finally, do not use acrylic for your piercing. Only use Gold, Metal, or Sterling silver the first 6-9 months. After about a year, using the fun acrylics and such is fine(: I would also stay away from any chains as well for at least the first 6 months. (That way if it does get caught on something, it won't cause infection) Thanks for reading, and I hope I helped! Good luck!!!! <3

Of course it hurts.I had a survey on 150 persons of different categories.!23 persons do not like it.But they like ear / nose piercing.

just do it. it hurts for like a second and then you have it for the rest of your life.

Depends on your pain tolerance. For me, it was like a shot. Just a lot quicker. You can ask the place for numbing cream, but it's really not necessary and just takes more time. They're professionals, they're trained to get that needle through as quickly as possible. Have your friend go in the room with you and hold your hand+close your eyes. If you have anymore questions, please feel free to message me.
