Is it worth taking AP Classes senior year?

Is taking 4 AP classes too much for senior year?

  • Answer:

It depends on the student and the teacher. Some AP classes are taught very lackadaisically because there isn't much subject matter or because the teacher just doesn't care, resulting in low AP scores, whereas others will really hammer you hard and you'll probably get lower grades, but you will be well-prepared for the AP tests. AP Psychology in particular is known as one of the easier AP's to take; AP Stat is not hard, not easy, but fairly common-sense and not hard to do well on. I'm not sure which AP English you're talking about as there are two: Language and Literature, and the two are drastically different. AP Bio is a hard AP, but is one of the easier ones in the science group and is not hard to do well in if you can stay focused and get your work done. I recommend asking people at your school who have taken these classes for their opinions and experiences, as their experiences are more likely to be more relevant to you over the opinions of strangers. Also, although it is important to enjoy your senior year, DO NOT slack off on AP/honors if you've been taking a decent load of those before; colleges do look at your classes and grades of your senior year, and if it seems like you're trying to take easier classes and not challenging yourself, that's a mark against you on the application.

I've heard AP Biology is massively hard. AP Psych shouldn't be to difficult, and AP statistics should be fine if you're a math person. For AP English, it depends on the teacher *Remember, you want to enjoy your senior year- not get embellished with work. Good luck!
