How do I become a police officer?

  • I am currently a 17 year old senior in high school about to graduate. I am joining the Marines for the next 4 years. After my 4 years I was looking at a career in law enforcement. I am not going to college and all I will have is a diploma and maybe some classes I take in law while I'm on active duty. So what I want to know is once I'm out of the Corp, what will be my next move to becoming a police officer? I have no preference whether I am a county or state officer. Whats the process?

You have to train at a special police course in order to work but to get the job is harder you need to be very commited to it.

Lol wow there messing you up bad im a former marine mp and current shriffs dept. First off if your active duty when do you have time for class rely lol? Sure some do but if your infantry forget it also I know your not going to be a mp its only 21 and up also your mp sert is no good on the civilian side UCMJ and civilian lawls are completely different sometimes. So youll have to apply like eveyone else and hope they call you then go to the academy again!!! But if you taje justice and law as a civilian your odds of being hired on the civilian side are much higher. You can get a lateral transfer from military but it's not easy and only works with federal jobs. Your millitary work is no good civilian side yea it sux dont believe me just wait and see when you get out lol. semper fi devil dog
