How do you treat a bad scrape on your leg that is starting to cause my leg to swell ?

My husband scraped his leg pretty bad, we have been rinsing it with diluted iodine, treating it with antibiotics and keeping it wrapped up. his leg and ankle started to swell and his is still in quite a bit of pain and it was about 7 days ago that it happened. is there more we need to be doing or are we doing something wrong? how long till the pain starts to subside?

Did you use an antibiotic perscription you already had? THAT can be bad. (Or do you mean antibiotic oinment?) Pills might be killing the wrong bacteria, or they might be spoiled, or if it was just a small amount of an rx, the germs that survived are really going gung-ho. Is it also hot? Get to a Dr.
