-

Answer:
No, you cannot force a child into independent study without a good reason. Tardy is not a good reason Independent study is a program that the student must agree on. Parents could force YOU personally, but cannot get the school to do it without the student's permission. In my opinion, independent study is a waste of a teenage experience. Live out your high school year! It's best if you study with friends rather than yourself. You get to make new friends and get more difference experience out of it rather than doing things on your own. It's a lot more fun with people.

Your parents probably want you to do better and go to a good college in the future. Listen to them and you will become very successful in life. I know you don't want to go into this program, but I'm sure there are students in the program who don't want to be there either. After all you do live under their roof which means you live by their rules. But if you really don't want to get into this program you must show them you are hardworking, responsible, and organized. Good luck and try to have fun!

I'm surprised your parents want to put someone as irresponsible and unreliable as you into independent study, where students must be far more proactive, responsible, organized, self-disciplined, and reliable. And trustworthy, too. If you want to stay in school, start getting there on time, homework completed, etc. You're a minor child, so what your parents say goes.
