Would it be weird to have my mom turn in my application?

Why doesn't my Mom understand that I'm gay?!?

  • Anyway, at one point (I'm 15 now, but this was when I was still 14) I gathered the courage and decided to come out to her. I felt kind of brave because she always told me, "If you ever find out you're gay, it's okay to tell me. I'll love and support you anyway!" After I did so, she just kind of stared at me for a moment and asked if there was a particular girl I had a crush on, so I said "No". Due to this, she didn't really believe me. We then had a conversation sort of like this: MOM: "Are you sure you're lesbian?" ME: "Um, yeah..." *starting to feel awkward and uncomfortable* "Plus, I've never really liked guys." MOM: "So, I didn't like guys when I was your age. You shouldn't be interested at your age." ME: "Like, I don't ever want to marry or date a boy. I think it's disgusting." MOM: "That's okay. I didn't think of marriage or dating at your age either. You probably just think you like girls because you're old enough to have experienced a boy yet." ME: "Mom, I would never have sex with/be with a man EVER." MOM: "So? You're only 14! You're supposed to not be interested in sex. Why don't you wait awhile and let nature take its course and see how things turn out?" ME: "Uh, Mom, I'm pretty sure I'm a lesbian." MOM: ".....You're too young......but...uh... you should've known by now if you were a lesbian.... Homosexuals know from when they are very little......" ME: *frustrated* *starts listing proof* MOM: "It could just be a phase..." ME: "Okay, I masturbate to the thought of other females on a daily basis." MOM: "WHAT?!" *sigh* "We all have weird sexual fantasies sometimes." ME: "I only get pleasure from imagining having sex with a girl." MOM: "Okay, that's slightly weird..." Then, she says ===> "You're just 14 and your hormones are out of whack. This is most likely just a phase. You're just worrying too much and convincing yourself that you're a lesbian. You'll probably make yourself think that you're lesbian when you're not and realize 20 years later that you're actually straight. Why don't you just let nature take its course? Whether you fall in love with a boy or a girl, I'll still love and support you!" I was kind of thinking "What the hell? I just told you I was a lesbian!" And what kind of way was that to end it? By this point I was just annoyed and just gave up. She was really starting to upset me. Is my Mom okay with LGBT but just against me being part of it? Or is she really completely clueless about homosexuality? She seems to believe that since I'm not in love with a girl yet, that I'm probably going through a phase and I am only curious about it. How do I get her to understand? HELP! So confused!

  • Answer:

Sounds to me like she's in denial. She doesn't want you to be gay. She says she will love and support you if you're a lesbian, but her actions disagree. Sounds to me like she's bullshitting you on that one.

don't care and don't tell her... don't even bring it up because if you are a lesbian you don't need your mother to know to prove you are... I have been a lesbian for five years and I masturbate with a girl online and I had sex with girls few times.. it's normal and my parents don't know email me for a talk

who cares. if you are lesbian then so be it. No one will force you to be otherwise. Dont worry, you are not alone in this fight.

Ok so I had pretty much the same argument with my ex-best friend when she found out I'm bisexual. And then I told her to shut up.... But what I think you should do is just say that you know you're lesbian because you know whether you're attracted to girls. You should say that you're never too young or too old to discover your homosexuality. You should tell her that it's not a big deal but you just felt like telling her. That you're just interested in girls but not boys and that you feel more friendly towards boys and more attracted to girls. My ex-best friend told me that i'm too young to know (i'm 13). She told me that it's just a phase (it's obviously not like bro). My ex-best friend is for LGBT but she was unhappy with me being bisexual. I know exactly how it feels. Yes, your mom is pro-LGBT but she wanted to see you have a husband, not a wife when you grow up. I know it's hard and it sucks but it'll be fine, she'll eventually accept you for who you are. She's your mom, she has to. Good luck! <3333
