Where in London Zone to rent a flat?

Where to live in London?

  • Answer:

I am afraid flats in Zone 2 are a complete rip-off, they count on people who do not know what these areas were like especially before they became "gentrified" to buy into them. Peckham, New Cross and Lewisham are best for London Bridge as they are about 5-10 minutes away on the Overground train. However, I honestly don't know why more people don't look at Zones 4/5, as they are generally safer, more pleasant areas, and the journey times to the centre are not that much longer, not to mention a lot cheaper! Places in The London Borough of Bexley fit this description, especially considering London Bridge Station is the main Central London Station for people in the Borough. Look at places like Falconwood, Welling, Bexleyheath, Sidcup, Belvedere or Albany Park. For example, Welling to London Bridge is about 20 minutes on the Overground Train and some trains from Sidcup only take about 15 minutes because they run fast from the following stop.

London Bridge is on the Northern line for the tube so I would look north on that line to areas such as East Finchley, Finchley and so on out on that branch of the line . These are all nice suburbs but rental prices in london are fairly high no matter where you go but these are good safe areas and worth a look. Journey time is 30 minutes or so even from the end of the line at High Barnet. A couple of stops from London bridge is Moorgate and from there overground trains go out to popular suburbs such as Grange Park, Winchmore Hill and Enfield Town. Nice areas and popular with commuters for your sort of area for work

Avoid Peckham, New Cross and Lewisham. Sydenham on a direct line to London Bridge isn't bad. Beckenham and Bromley are nice. I agree East Finchley is good. Likewise Muswell Hill and Crouch End. Islington and Clerkenwell are very central and people in those areas often let rooms www.nationalrail.co.uk www.tfl.gov.uk
