Proxy/Alternative to Proxy help?

So it's almost Spring Break and we're not doing anything at school, so my favorite site to go on is Tumblr, but it's been recently blocked. THE HORROR! Anyway, I've tried using several proxy sites, and the closest ones to get there are k12history.com, puretunnel.com and so on. I can access the home page, but can't log in and an error message appears, I've heard of downloading Firefox and changing the Internet Options>advanced> setttings and type in a proxy site, but still to no avail. Can someone tell me how to correctly use it or maybe give me an alternative to proxy sites

if u can download and execute programs on your PC at school then get LogMeIn and connect to the computer back at home. Or use AlwaysOnPC Both work great.
