Are horseback riding lessons usually expensive?

  • I really want to take horseback riding lessons but my mom said they are expensive. How much do horseback lessons usually cost? Also, do you think if I help out at the horse stables they might give me lessons at a cheaper price?I've herd of places that do that, but I don't know if everywhere does. Thanks for answering!

  • Answer:

Well really the price depends on the quality of the lessons: barn, the stablehands, the number of horses in a lesson, *how often they switch the horse you're riding*, the *teaching* and how *kind and experienced* the horses are, and if your *paired with he right horse*. Now if you want cheaper lessons then the quality will be worse. I used to go to a stable that was closer and cheaper, but overall the only good quality bit of it was the stablehands. There were about 8 horses in a lesson, the teachers didn't really care about how much you learned and your safety. And every lesson you switched horses. Now I go to a MUCH better stable which got all of these points right. You got to bond with the horse you rode. You always got paired with the right horse for you at the time and would end up on the best horse for you in the end <3. The stablehands knew the horses and owner SOOO well, and always knew exactly what to do. Our teacher was on the waiting list for the Olympics! We usually have 1-4 horses in a lesson. The horses are experianced and can be suited for any level rider (they make it more difficult for you the better a rider you are). They are such *kind* horses too! This stable costs roughly $175 a lesson. I take 1 lesson a week. This is a reasonable price for good quality lessons over here in Canada. But I don't know about how much of a discount you can get for helping out.

dunno

Somewhat. It depends on where you live, what barn you use, and how consistent you plan on being. Overall it can be expensive because you will want to do it every week and eventually get your own tack and brushes. The barn I use gets paid $40 for a 1 hour group lesson. It would be more expensive if you got a semi-private (2 people) or private (just you). Trail rides are different and they aren't a consistent thing. Lessons are English riding, trail rides are Western riding. Trail rides are a fun thing to do occasionally and where I go they cost $35. But when I did a trail ride on the beach in California, there were probably around 6 of us and it costed more than $200 combined. Lessons are fun and if you are a horse lover or an animal lover you get addicted to the horse you are riding (; Hope I helped! Keep asking your mom and explain your reasons for doing it, hopefully she says yes (:

My ex-fiance took my horse back riding for the first time. I think he paid around $200 for the both of us, for an hour on the horses.

Ask your local horse stable. The price is different from place to place.
