What Is The Best "FREE" Text-To-Speech Software For Windows/Android? I'm Using It To Read My Home Study PDF's?
-
I have been trying out different Text-To-Speech software, but the free programs have limitations and while the paid version will add all of the features back, I don't want to buy the full versions of the software, unless the software works flawlessly. I would prefer just sticking with free, because so much of the software that I have purchased, ended up failing at some point and I was never able to get the help from the developers to fix it. So what is the best free software of this kind? I will be using the software to read back my home study career school PDF study guides. I have already tried a few of these type of programs so far, but I just don't have the time though to test every single program. So that is why I am asking for help. I have been using NaturalReader - Free, but they lockout a lot of useful features, like creating MP3's. So is there Text-To-Speech software that's both free and that includes a lot of useful features? I know there is a bunch of web browser add-on's that read text, but since I'm having the software read the copied text from PDF files, these add-on's are not as useful. If you know of a good add-on that makes reading copied PDF text easy, then I am interested. But the add-on's that I have tried so far for Firefox, require that the browser be open in order to read the text, which is annoying. So I am mainly looking for stand-alone software. And if you know of apps that run on the AndroidOS that read text, then I would like to know about those as well. I will pay for those if they work well enough.

Answer:
Hey, I had some great success and results (especially with school related stuff) with iSpeech's text to speech (http://www.ispeech.org). They take many document formats and you can download everything in the end as a mp3 to put on your iPod or w/e (what I did to listen on my commute). Their voice sounds pretty good too and has inflection, which helped a lot since it wasn't monotonous and made me fall asleep.
