The art of programming is a great art. :) Java is best taught through experience and videos. I recommend "thenewboston" on YouTube for Java Tutorials. He is easy to learn from, and explains the syntaxes very well. However, if you are planning to be multi-lingual in programming, like programming in C++ as well, I don't recommend learning Java as your first major programming language. The syntax is really unique, and you won't be able to understand or learn any other language as well. Learn a C language, or .NET first. You will understand Java better, and will be more educated in programming.

The best way is to get a book (a printed one). The time it takes you to read and practice what you read. It will take more time to become a pro.

You might look into classes at your local community college. Java may require three or more semesters and also have a prerequisite.
