What is the godaddy reseller program?

Help with Godaddy please?!?

  • I have been put in charge of my church's website (we are very small and I am the only one with enough time and tech skills to work on it). But I'm coming to a complete standstill. I purchased a domain name with Godaddy. Then we were going to switch to Wordpress, but when I learned I could install it on Godaddy, I did so and purchased a $5.39/month package for one year. But I still can't seem to edit the site the way I want to - it keeps on showing me the stupid Instant-Page thingy, resulting in it looking like any site off of Freewebs.com. I'm pretty horrible with HTML . . . is there any program or pre-written HTML I can use to make our site look halfway decent? I have to get this done before Saturday which is why I'm so freaked. Please help! Thanks!

There are tons of Wordpress templates out there. You might want to try googling that term. In order to really customize Wordpress, you need to have a good grasp of PHP and HTML at the least, otherwise the site is always going to look a little canned.

Hey L.M. First off, congrats on taking the plunge for taking care of your Church's website! It sounds like you have your domain and hosting squared away, it's just getting wordpress setup and configured properly. I have to run into a meeting now but I would be more than happy to help you out later today or sometime this week. It should be a pretty simple process. Do you want to give us a call or send us an email and we can schedule a time to work on this? Thanks!

I suggest you go with a website design company such as http://stringsofsound.com/ the designed my website http://universityreviews.ca/ and did a really good job for really cheap. I recommend them to my friends who want to make quality websites. The also give me free website hosting for a year.

You've got quite a task. Learning at least HTML and CSS in 3 days. The best thing you can do at this stage is look for a free template. There's absolutely millions of these things around - http://www.google.com/search?q=free+html+template When choosing one for the moment choose something relatively simple. Do not get one that uses Flash or any sort of scripting, even JavaScript - that's way beyond what you're going to be able to do in a couple of days. I'd download one of the free WYSIWYG HTML editors to help edit the page. SharePoint Designer - http://sharepoint.microsoft.com/en-us/product/related-technologies/pages/sharepoint-designer.aspx Vusal Web Express - http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/en-us/products/2010-editions/visual-web-developer-express Kompozer - http://kompozer.net/ Get the pages looking half decent on your computer then upload the files using a FTP client like Filezilla - http://filezilla-project.org/ or WinSCP - http://winscp.net/eng/index.php to GoDaddy. You've only got a few days so don't get overly ambitious, get the basics done then tidy up the site later.

This from the man himself... oh, it is back up by the way. =D "So what happened: In 2008 we transferred our domain to our South African registrar. For some reason they used Godaddy to register it, as if they were just a proxy registrar. Now in 2010 the domain was expired, but was not auto-renewed as all our other domains at our South African registrar are. We didn't realize the domain was going to expire. So, the domain expired and Godaddy parked the domain. So we contacted our SA registrar, but of course their domains department doesn't work over the weekend. So we had to use Godaddy's excruciatingly slow (12-24 hours response times) help & support via email. Eventually we got the domain and renewed it so all is well. So now we have almost had every major frustrating internet glitch happen to us.. but I'm sure there are a few more ones just waiting to add that extra zest into our lives!! Yayy!!"
