Is it possibile to download movies/tv shows through your browser on an Android?

I have both an iPod 4 Gen ; and a Samsung Replenish Android. With an iPod, I can download a 'downloads' app, then from there they provide a internet tab built in. Then I can just enter a movie download website in, and press download and have it into my files. But I was wondering if you could do the same thing on the Android software. If so, do they have a downloads app for your files? By the way, I download them free off the internet app. So no, Netflix, or anything like that isn't the answer to what I'm looking for. Thank you.(:
