Will Apple Store engrave my iPod?

My ipod Touch won't connect to ANY WiFi other than when in the Apple Store, help please.?

  • I purchased it in 2009 and for some reason never bothered to play with it until some time in 2010 when I realized there was a problem. Took it in and the "genius" showed it connected in the Apple store so deemed it to be a problem with the network I was working with. I still hadn't really played around with it so took his word for it, had a blackberry so couldn't be bothered to figure it out. In 2011 I finally started to use the ipod more and realized there's definitely a problem. My software is fully updated and I've NEVER been able to connect to ANY wifi network other than Apple Store's (have tried with a bunch of free unprotected wifi networks). Last took it in a couple of months ago and the "genius" confirmed it connected in the Apple Store and then we even walked over to McD's free wifi and sure enough it refused to connect after making connection in the Apple Store a minute prior. I was informed that since there's no warranty on my ipod there's nothing he can do for me. I told him that a long time ago when it was still under warranty I came in with the same problem and was dismissed by the "genius" who helped me but clearly he was wrong. He explained that if I can come up with a record of the appointment then they should be able to do something for me. You can probably guess that I couldn't find a record of such and that's why I'm here. Why I would've shelled out the cash for the ipod touch and not use it as more than an MP3 player from the get-go, even I can't understand, pretty dumb. Any ideas?

  • Answer:

Try connecting it to iTunes and resetting it to the factory standard. If not, take it to the store or send it off for diagnostic tests. Thats all you can do. Sometimes it rights itself, mine does. If it doesn't work you'll have to go without wifi..
