How would you report threats to the police?

Should I report my boyfriend for abuse? please read the details.?

• boyfriend today waved a knife at me in a fit of anger. then threw my cell phone. twice before I have kept silent and he's twisted my hand, and one time threatened to kill me over two months ago. He has also slammed the door of the apartment in my face. I am currently pregnant and alone in the city with no family or friends, we moved to another state together. Do I need to record what he says the threats he has made to me, or can I just call the police, he might deny it then what? When I lock my room door he threatens to call the police on me. If I report what he has done to me he will have a criminal record for life communicating threats is a felony where I live, and he will have to stay away from me forever. But if I don't report him he will take advantage of me and keep doing this, and it might escalate. I don't see how he could care about me or love me doing this to me.

  YES! He is threatening you and has tried/has harmed you physically. Call the police immediately. Not in front of him though, especially not when he's angry. His anger could escalate and you could end up hurt. Keep yourself and your baby safe and do the right thing. If he denies it, doesn't matter because it's usually your word against his. There is no excuse for this, please inform the authorities right away.
