Help with latex allergy?
-
is it possible to have flare ups of a latex allergy? like, only be allergic to it every now and then? i work in a care home, so i'm constantly using lots of pairs of latex gloves on a regular basis, i can go for weeks, sometimes months with no problems, but then i'll suddenly start getting really sore hands after using them and i start getting red patches and have to get special latex free gloves for a while. if i'm having a reaction to the gloves, it also has the same effect with latex condoms at the same time and we have to get latex free ones! why does this happen?! surely if i was allergic to latex, i would be all the time?!

Answer:
Not Necessarily, you don't have the full blown allergy that I have to it. But it's Getting there! So be careful! Honestly it is best if you use latex free gloves and condoms in the first place and prevent it from every happening again. Not only is it very painful, if you can stop it from happening in the first place, you won't have to worry about it.

Your immune system identifies latex as a harmful substance. No matter the reaction, your immune system triggers certain cells to produce antibodies to fight the latex component. The next time you come in contact with latex, the antibodies sense it and signal your immune system to release histamine and other chemicals into your bloodstream. The more exposure you have, the more your immune system is likely to respond. Building your immune system is the best way to get relief of this reaction. Detox your body first, then change your diet.
